I mean, serial killers often murder people who remind them of loved ones or someone who hurt them so they don't kill that loved one. It's not far fetched.

Having grown up Mormon, this actually hits hard. Any of us exmos with fundie parents know how brutal it was to grow up with them.

I think she’s 100% right actually. But TBH I don’t care why he did it. I’m so floored by the number of people I know and love who are so bamboozled by CK and apparently can’t see past the end of their nose and I’m just.so.sad.

That would explain why his dad turned him in, he was scared of him.

Absolutely yes. Sometimes people are just mad at the dads. I prefer this one.

There's been more and more sentiment that he wasnt leaning any way politically (in the ways we would traditionally think of), and that he was just really angry. That comment makes sense.

I heard someone suggest there was a Mormon belief system he was acting on and I can’t stop thinking about THAT

Or he was just mad. 🤷🏽♀️Our brains always want a reason - but I don't think the truth will bring any sort of peace

One of the first things I said to a friend was.... Maybe his family didn't accept him for who he was. That's really sad.

The only talking point we should be having is how this is a male violence problem.

I saw a video from an ex-mo saying kinda the same thing. he did it to hurt his parents bc he wasn't going to physically hurt them.

There are SO MANY people who are neither right nor left. Why can’t he just be a dude who disagreed with CK on one or more topics and felt very strongly about it. People can hate someone without it being part of an “ideology”.

the quote that stuck with me this week was from @TherapyJeff in his video about ways to stop your son from being radicalized online: if you won't let him be vulnerable, he will settle for being violent

I quote the line from the movie Big Daddy so much, and here’s another chance: “you’re mad at your dad, not at me! I forgive you!”

I think he was raised for twenty years by people who taught him how to shoot a shot like that as a way to solve a problem. Whatever he is now is almost irrelevant.

I think it’s fairly apparent that this dude’s political affiliation is not able to be categorized because it emerges from spending entirely too much time in fringe gaming/incel spaces. It’s the reason bot sides are able to find pieces that fit their narrative—it’s not entirely categorizable in the mainstream.

I saw a theory from someone with military intelligence background that thinks he’s not necessarily right or left he’s more just angry at the whole system and a nihilist
