You should never put the brakes on the hoist when a person is in the sling, they should only be when storing the hoist. The houst is likely to tip over with someone in the sling. This is the first thing anyone being trained to use a hoist is told.

What an amazing dad you are! A tip when placing the sling from a MSIP coach, put the bed rails down, it lets you get closer to the bed so when you reach over it puts less stress on your back:)

I work in a nursing home. The Hoyer should be intertwined to go under the legs and attach then to the Hoyer, so there is no possibility of him sliding off by accident. So it may be upside down?

I mean this with respect, but the hoyer sling is upside down. The curved edge goes at the top to cradle the edge and the straight side goes at the bottom for under the knees.
