I dubbed my dads phantom pains “zingers” (I was like 7 😅) and when he’d have a spasm I’d race over and rub my hands up and down his leg really fast on both sides up and down. He said it helped but idk if he was just being sweet or not and unfortunately I can’t ask him bc he was irresponsible w. His post op pain meds 😕 but every time I see an amputee now I automatically feel a sense of closeness to them and him. I hope you’re healing fast and well and you’re back doing all the things you love most! You’re super woman!

find a pain management doctor you like and stick with them. even just for check ups. building a relationship will help in the long run

My dad was a triple amputee. Those phantom pains are what hurt him really bad. Prayers for a speedy recovery 🙏🏼

I agree! I've had my left leg amputated twice and I just had another revision surgery and it was extremely painful especially because the first time tge nerve block had to get pulled out immediately after surgery and the second amputation on same leg, because an infection, so I had zero pain relief and the first few days were the hardest to get through. However, my most recent revision I had done with the last hopes of keeping my knee still, I was able to have the nerve block and it made a significant difference. I remember the worst part was not only the pain hurting really, really, really bad, but it felt like my entire foot/lower leg was vibrating like crazy, making the pain so much worse and I swear its from the bone saw they use. if your amputation was recent, you look amazing already! stay strong and make sure to set attainable goals making them harder as you get better. Im hoping soon to be able to get a running blade donated to me so I can finally run in a marathon for the first time as an amputee. My insurance will not cover a running blade because apparently running isn't a necessity, like really?! I can think of many scenarios where running is a necessity!
