Immigration services worker here! Temporary visas for tourism are easier to get, but they don’t last very long, and you’ll need to get authorization to work separately. Typically you’ll need some kind of underlying petition in order to seek permanent residence, unless you wanna wait around forever and spend a ton of money (which you’ll be doing a lot of anyway). For example, you could get a student visa, allowing you to study there and potentially get a job in the field you studied afterward. Canada is not accepting asylum claims from the US at this time, and that likely won’t change anytime soon. This is all an insane oversimplification btw, Googling “Canadian immigration” will bring up the government website with resources to help find which immigration path is best for you. Canadian immigration law is just as complicated as it is in the US, so it’s best to consult an immigration attorney to help you navigate the mountains of paperwork you’ll have to do.
