@thegoldenapricots: Rosh Hashanah Brisket Ingredients • 2–3 lb brisket • 2 packets onion soup mix • 2 bottles Heinz chili sauce • ½ cup brown sugar • 1 can beer (or wine) • 1 ½ teaspoons salt • 1 teaspoon black pepper • 1 teaspoon paprika • 3 tablespoons olive oil Directions 1. Season the Brisket Rub the brisket on all sides with salt, pepper, and paprika. 2. Sear the Meat In a large ovenproof pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the brisket and brown well on all sides. 3. Prepare the Sauce In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, onion soup mix, chili sauce, and beer (or wine). 4. Combine & Simmer Pour the sauce mixture over the brisket. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot. Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes. 5. Bake Until Tender Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the covered pot to the oven and bake for about 3 hours, until the brisket is tender and the sauce is rich and flavorful. 6.
