Corporate career as a woman here, my husband is a stay at home dad. I know I’ll have to face the day when my kid blames me for not being there enough… Hopefully I can secure our financial future by then so I’ll have something to show for this choice

Yup. My mom chose the highly successful corporate business woman. She still won’t admit how little mothering she actually did

Maybe it's that the length of the working day needs to be shortened as studies have shown people can't concentrate for more than 4 hours at a time. If the working day was reduced then women could be mothers as well as having a career

Absolute truth. I tried to do both and it was impossible. Choose motherhood if you become a mum, career can wait.

I wish I was not born a lot because it’s so exhausting for my mom to have to have a career and take care of me my whole life.

Genuinely we can't win! I ended up a single parent, unexpected, and the Dad became totally irresponsible (understatement)! I studied college, then university, whilst working PT, renovating my home AND bringing up my son by myself, with no parental support or village 😳...I was young and full of energy, but honestly, HOW can we do it all, we CAN'T! I tried my absolute best to provide a lovely, safe home for my son, whilst juggling several plates single handedly! I did great in spite of adversity, but I'll NEVER get back the quality time I missed with my son 😳

Absolutely! You have 100% of you. You can divide it however you want...but it sill be 100% (50%/50% work/children, 20/80, 80/20...). You cannot have 100/100...

Beautifully said! By powerfully choosing your path and what's truly aligned for you, you're living a life that's genuine and meaningful. No one-size-fits-all approach can compare to the freedom and fulfillment that comes from staying true to yourself.

I agree. Even if society would be more open to the idea having both, there is still the time issue as well.

I have never and will never understand why any mother would prioratise a career over her child. It really saddens me

I stayed at home with my kids for three years but not many can afford it unfortunately. Also this choice (which I don’t regret) hurt my career so much…

I love how you say, “This motherhood career split is the bane for women that have CAREERS.” Not the bane for women who are mothers! Clearly thought through. One perpetuates stereotypes, the other says, “You’re not less for putting motherhood down and pursing a career.”

No desire for career, man, kids = peace. The career is also handled by men anyway.
