I didn’t lose my way. I can still follow Jesus’s teachings without entering a church, which I will never do again, for personal reasons. I do not have the ability to separate myself from the toxicity that happens within those walls. I will forever love and support my LGBTQ+ friends and family. I will forever love and support my immigrant friends. I will forever willingly help and support the poor and those in need. I’m a better Christian not being surrounded by some people who call themselves Christian.

I think this is worse in high school and college circles. As I’ve gotten older it seems that people get less judgy and more real. At least in my experiences. So sorry you went through it alone.

This is so beautiful and truely what I feel what Christianity should be. You are reaching out to bring people to Jesus. When it fees like churches are turning people away. Grew up in the church and haven’t been back in years. I still believe in God and pray daily. It’s hard to not recognize these people I was once close to.
