@justinnaultofficial: Your doctor says your cholesterol is too high. But here’s what they don’t tell you. In 1960, cholesterol levels over 300 were considered acceptable. Then it went to 240, then 200. Every time they drop that number, millions more Americans need a prescription. That’s not medicine. That’s marketing. Pfizer made $125 billion selling Lipitor, the best-selling drug in human history. Want to know what it actually does? For every 1000 healthy people who take statins, only one heart attack is prevented. The other 999 get side effects. • 29% of them develop muscle soreness so severe they can’t exercise, which actually increases their risk of heart disease. • 9% develop diabetes, which is a major risk factor for heart disease. Now, about the panel that lowered cholesterol guidelines in 2004. 8 out of 9 members had financial ties to statin manufacturers. The chairman was paid by 5 pharmaceutical companies. Meanwhile, your brain is 25% cholesterol. Every single hormone in your body needs it. Studies of people over 60 found that higher cholesterol levels actually led to longer lives—not shorter. But your doctor doesn’t know this because they get four hours of nutrition training and 400 hours of pharmacology. The guidelines they follow? Written by Big Pharma. 40 million Americans are on statins right now. A $20 billion industry for a drug that helps 0.1% of the people who take it. Stop waiting for evidence-based medicine to save you. The evidence is bought and YOU are the customer. Share this before your doctor hands you a prescription for a problem you don’t even have.

1. Cholesterol can be made in EVERY cell in the body from acetylCoA. You don’t need cholesterol in diet for proper brain function 2. We don’t base our guidelines based on total cholesterol. It’s based on elevated LDL or cardiovascular risk factors. 3. That 1/1000 number is just a random number you just threw out. Heart attacks are not the only cardiovascular events that can occur from a result of elevated LDL. There’s strokes too. 4. Statins actually give a consistent 20 percent reduction in cardiovascular events and the absolute benefit depends on how high the risk is. 5. Stop spreading bullshit, you don’t see the ramifications of your stupidity behind a screen. Us doctors are out in the real world having to save those people with heart attacks due to elevated ldl

The only argument against this is no one is making money off statins anymore. They’re all generic and cost pennies

The number needed to treat for atorvastatin is around 56 (varies by risk factors), why would you give the number needed to treat based of “healthy people”. Saying it only prevents 1 heart attack in every 1,000 people is misleading.

Inference Principles :
The overwhelming majority of data suggests LDL is a risk factor for CVD. There are of course some studies that fail to establish correlation but that is the nature of science — science is a community-based endeavor that combines all available data with interpretation and synthesizes a contingent consensus.

Agree with your basic premise but not sure all your points are on fact. What I saw when researching was that statins only prevent one death in a 100, not one in a thousand. I have high cholesterol but refuse to take statins
