Ohhh I feel this to my core. I have 3 kids and a piece of me is just relieved they will have each other to lean on (hopefully)...bc doing it as an only child is HARD

If you have a Facebook, look up “Parenting Aging Parents.” It’s a group that has been so helpful with questions or even just to vent.

Quick reality check: it’s also common for only one ‘child’ to step up while the other siblings find every excuse to ghost the whole situation. It’s rough duty. Help is there, but it takes some searching to find them.

Care giver fatigue is so real & my heart goes out to you. It’s so emotional & just plain hard. I don’t know what level they are at, but I’m an RN Case manager for a skilled facility. Some areas have resources that might be helpful. Feel free to reach out anytime. All my love to you. Bless you for the care you’re giving them.

It's me, hi! :
As a mom who only has 1 child, what is something your parents could've done to make this easier for you? I'm not asking as a way to criticize your parents, I'm asking this as a parent who hopes to make things as easy on her as possible later in life. She's only 6 right now.

I’m sorry. It is so hard. I cared for my mom until she passed and she fought dementia for a long time. It’s so hard as they get older to watch them age.

In my career, I help families who are doing this every day. If it’s one child or 12 children, it doesn’t seem to make a difference. In your case, you do not need anyone’s approval for any decision that you have to make. You don’t have to fight amongst siblings to reach your conclusion. Try to take some solace in that.
