It's important to understand that imaginary numbers only arise when bringing in negative numbers and rooting. Rooting is just tacked on to the other operations but it very different. It's just that this was difficult to see historically.

Imaginary Numbers do not exist in physical processes. The subtraction of two imaginary numbers can be a zero real number. This mixes real and imaginary numbers, a problem.

So... Could quantum ++, +-, -+, -- be defined more as a quadrant? in the sense that if positive numbers are Up or Right and negative numbers are Down or Left? Then we could look at sign notation as an orientation rather than a quantity? Or am I way off mark here... Maybe not necessarily not as a quantity but in the relational aspect I mean... IDK. I'm too dumb for this.
