This was a common trick back in the day when tile grades were less consistent. Products like Florida Tile could often vary by about 1/16" larger or smaller. When setting a course with spacers, we’d use aluminum straightedges and tap them to bring the lines back in check. With the spacers in place, the entire section would tighten up straight.
Caution: this has to be done before the thinset bonds. If it’s already started to set, you risk breaking the bond.
We’d also use this method at the end of a run—if you weren’t finishing that day, you’d leave a true straight line to work off the next morning.
With today’s technology—laser lines and better-manufactured tile—we don’t rely on it as often. But every once in a while, you’ll still run into a low-grade line of tile where this trick comes in handy. Great piece of info to keep in mind. 👍 ofcourse if you are asking me for advise I would say... stretch before starting, and make sure use as much ppe. you can stand. I can't hear my back hurts and my knees are shot. and keep on tiling and learning.

Where’s the tile going ?😂 Once the tile sets it won’t move . It is a good idea tho to install a straight edge at the beginning of the job and work againt it and hold it down with tile.

That's all gonna need taken up. The vibration through the screw will cause a tectonic vibration in the subfloor completely sabotaging the adherence of the thinset to the tile. Guaranteed failure!
