That is not always correct. I had the Platinum and then applied for the gold. Got the points when I met the spending requirement.

After seeing this video I decided to try it and I did in fact get the points offer on the Amex Gold. I did just receive my platinum today, so maybe that’s why I was still eligible for the 60,000 points for the Amex gold 🤷♂️either way, I now have the points for platinum and gold.

Is there a difference between “upgrading” (in the amex app it says i can get up to 60k points if i upgrade to the platinum) and applying for the platinum specifically. If im upgrading is it replacing my gold card?
