@nena_and_rick Back in May, @leoriqueta and @sabrinaluzphotographer came together to learn more about our story and help us share Rick’s journey, raising awareness and support for his treatment. The first time I watched this video, I felt ashamed. It was incredibly hard to see myself so vulnerable. Opening the doors of our home and the deepest parts of my heart wasn’t easy. For so long, I believed I had to carry this pain quietly. But God has been teaching me something beautiful. I’ve learned that vulnerability isn’t weakness, it is courage. Every time I chose to share our story, I wasn’t just releasing the weight I had been carrying; I was making room for hope, healing, and connection. Today, when I watch this video, I don’t see sadness anymore. I see a mother who refused to give up on her son. I see a family surrounded by extraordinary people. I see thousands of prayers being lifted around the world. I see lives being touched, awareness being raised, and hope reaching families who may have felt alone. Most of all, I see God’s hand through every step of this journey. He didn’t waste our pain. He transformed it into purpose. What once felt like our greatest burden has become a testimony of His faithfulness, bringing people together in love, compassion, and prayer. Through Rick’s story, He has shown us that even in the darkest valleys, light can shine brighter than we ever imagined. Thank you, Sabrina and Leo, for your time, your compassion and for capturing our story with such kindness and love. And thank you to every single person who has walked beside us, prayed for us, encouraged us, and believed with us. Our story has never been about us.
