Debate really is just for ego, these “debaters” like dean who’s entire platform is predicated on clips of them “owning right wingers” just gotcha moments and clip farming. “Debating” basic human rights like yes well done you for arguing for basic ethics

f*scists will never stop being platformed because it’s so embedded within the zeitgeist. these debates help them to legitimise/mainstream under populism, where they can repackage racism/xenophobia as the will of the people or as the only alternative to the (leftist) status quo. also unfortunately people genuinely see provocation as a proxy for intelligent. Aurelien and Katy brown have a really insightful article about this
