this dichotomy was set up in the very beginning; gale used traps to hunt (indirect, impersonal, distant) while katniss used the bow (deliberate, precise, close). even when it was animals katniss had to swallow her empathy to survive. in war gale thrives without it.

Gale hatred was so strong he lost his sympathy and empathy a longtime ago. They both lost their childhoods when their dads died but Katniss grew stronger and turned her anger into sacrifice and Gale turned his anger into hatred

I really like this scene. I was told by my drill instructor that the day killing becomes easy for you and dosent haunt you at night you know it’s time to get out. It is always personal and it should never be easy.
