@kylie.brewer: Education teaches you HOW to think… not WHAT to think!!! That’s why it’s not indoctrination💙 Anti-intellectualism will be the downfall of our society. #leftist #education #brown #lgbtq #sociology
masters in biochem here - indoctrination 100% exists as many profs seep their political left wing ideology into classes and debates, but it's okay because they can claim theyre about "positivity and inclusivity"

I’ve never understood a gpa requirement for college. The people who need it most are people with low gpas.

I have to disagree. Most of the material assigned to me was left-leaning. I wrote more liberal than my own beliefs in order to achieve better grades. It worked well, as I graduated with honors. Didn't learn a whole lot. College to me was simply paying for the tuition and showing up.

Ya no I disagree. I’m in law school and I’m definitely conservative. A lot of students simply listen to what their professors say and then repeat that. That don’t do any critical thinking. Some degrees are significantly easier than others as well (not less important, but definitely easier) that do not require a ton of critical thinking

So you don’t think professors can include bias at all?

You can't be taught how to think before you've been taught what to think. Too much university education without grounding in real-world experience produces citizens who are clever with words but lack the judgment needed for practical life. I think it was Plato in the republic, the ideal citizen must balance intellectual cultivation with physical training (real-life experience in this case). An imbalance creates ideologues and zealots who theorise beautifully but cannot withstand the tests of the reality of human nature. This flaw exists in all fields but casts a wider net affecting millions of people when it comes to politics

Used to be more this way but recently, more of one ideology is being pushed while unbiased debate gets discouraged. Need only look to Charlie Kirk being unalived for his views. I also find it interesting that the party that claims educational superiority was elected by the most uneducated generation we have in the Boomers (Canada anyhow).

I had a lot of TAs and professors from Africa, Russia and Switzerland, the second I brought it up to my maga parents they were freaking out asking what political agenda they were pushing.. like BRO, they teach me advanced chemistry and help with my homework. There is no "agenda", in fact we've never spoken about anything that isnt related to the course 🤣

Why are there studies that suggest that students alter their views to seem more liberal out of peer pressure?

As a college professor, I could not agree with you more. Whether it be the use of AI in classrooms, decreasing of teachers decreasing of assistance in classrooms is nothing more than taking away every person's right to critically think.
