@little.miss.lovergirlacm: This was really interesting to learn, since I’ve grown up always hearing that Martin Luther simply disagreed with the Church and changed it for what he wanted and I think this is an interesting and refreshing perspective to learn #christiantiktok #catholictiktok #educational

You’ll be back once you see the truth on being a Protestant. After going to a nondenominational church for almost 2 years I’m coming back to the Catholic Church to do my confirmation. All Protestant churches are divided and don’t agree on scripture.

Catholics are Christians. The original Christians. The word Katholikos means Universal Christian. We have to remember we didn’t always have the Bible. We also need sacred tradition. Purgatory isn’t only for burning off sin. It’s a place of purification of the soul. And it isn’t for just a little bit. It depends on the person. Sola scriptura doesn’t hold up, since we all can interpret it to our own understanding and convenience. This is why Protestantism has so many denominations who don’t agree with each other. If people put as much homework trying to disprove the Catholic Church into really studying the Catechism, they would see it’s the truth. The reason they would read the Bible for us was to preserve the manuscripts.

I have a question as a curious Catholic. Do Protestants bring up Catholics and our beliefs during their service? Or is it discussed somewhere like Bible study? I really never understood why so many Protestants question how we practice. Growing up Catholic I didn’t even know other denominations existed I thought everyone was Catholic😅

I encourage you to go deeper into the history of the church, not only the history of the reformation. I was a protestant studying the reformation and it strengthened my bias against the catholic church, but once I actually started looking into the full history of the church I was compelled to actually convert to catholicism(in OCIA rn). Its also important to note that the catholic church was in fact wrong in the practice of selling indulgences, and martin luthers pushback on that issue was justified. You really should be curious and learn why things like sola fide and sola scriptura werent a christian doctrine until the reformation. Regardless though, God bless you. No hate for you or your beliefs in the slightest.

the church h didn't sell indulgences, individual rough corrupt priests did. also its crazy that instead of taking that issue up with the church and wiping it out he just took the chance to do his own thing

you know who else disagreed with the Catholic Church? Saint Francis.. but he didn't wonder off and start his own version of what he thought was better.. he traveled to Rome and had discussions with the Church and prayed to have a reform within the church not outside.

all Catholics are Christian not all Christians are Catholic. we believe in Jesus Christ which makes us Christians. just because we don't believe the way that others think is the correct way (that is also man determined) does not mean they just get to decide we are not Christians lol

I think Martin Luther meant well trying to to do sola scriptura but considering many denominations perceive the Same scriptura different ways it's becoming a problem

You do realize that you said “we don’t need a priest” but in the Bible it says Peter was the first Pope. Although I may see some point of views of yours, I think ideally it’s not for us to pick and choose what we agree or disagree it’s what was given to us through the Bible and we need to accept it, it’s from God and what he wanted. But anyway God bless you!

Catholic and Christian are not two different things. Catholicism is the original Christianity, the faith handed down from the Apostles and preserved by the Church for two thousand years. Every Christian today owes the Bible, the Creed, and the sacraments to the Catholic Church. It was not until Martin Luther and the other so-called reformers broke away from the Church that countless Protestant denominations began to appear. That break was not a reform but a revolution that fragmented the Body of Christ. So no, there is no difference between a Catholic and a Christian. To be Catholic is to be part of the one Church Christ Himself founded. The difference lies between Catholics and Protestants, who separated themselves from that one Ch

You gotta go back further than that Martin Luther was born late 1400s. True Catholicism was started by Jesus Christ and apostles knowing that Catholic needs universal would you wanna know why they are separate is when did Ewald and you have to go back 1400 more years to the time between the second generation church fathers and Christian Church, and third generation church fathers in a Christian church Plus the events of religious persecution of the true Catholic “universal“ by the now known Roman Catholic Church for dominance. Even with these you should find this historic events. But you’re gonna have to go back way further than Martín Luther you can’t start 1400 years after to find out why they’re separate. Indulgences know all about that that’s why they’re separate at all.

Now please dive in and learn the Catholic perspective. I was evangelical/protestant for the first 40 yrs of my life. I am now, thankfully Catholic. It would be nice if the history of the reformation were that simple, but it’s not. Being raised Catholic doesn’t automatically mean you fully understand Catholic Theology. And actually, some of that history about Luther is incorrect. Luther wasn’t actually against indulgences, and he was only excommunicated after given several opportunities to recant. He chose to walk away.

Faith alone does not make sense to me. I’m sure there are mafia, cartel, or gang members that harm people and believe in God. Does the fact that they believe mean that they are saved?
