As a fellow moderate, I have noticed that the left is obsessed with maintaining this notion that they have the moral high ground. Disagreeing with them goes beyond differing views but automatically makes you a bad person. It’s very polarizing. I wish there was more mutual understanding on both sides.

the death penalty is cheaper than life imprisonment by far. I don't think we should have to pay for that. besides a person who murders in cold blood needs to pay in proportion to the crime and that punishment will pay for the sin before they move on. This allows for a clean slate before judgement.

I would consider myself a liberal and I have no issue with the right to have guns but i’m fully pro gun control & banning of automatic weapons. I’m sorry you have had bad experiences with some liberals but its not all of us. I promise.

I agree with this 100%. However, while i think the left is too loud and too univintiting to differences of opinion, I think the negative trait of the right is that they are too quick to turn their heads at problematic issues. I think with the right wing person agreeing and being respectful in discussions is more likely than the left, but even me as a moderate who believes in the 2nd amendment but cracking down on gun control feels as though it’s hard to get people on the right to see the horrors of gun violence and school shootings and how something needs to be done about it urgently. With that said, I don’t think either republicans or democrats in our gov are actually in the interest of attempting to do anything about it. That enrages me. But I still agree on the sentiment that we need to have conversations and not cause divisiveness between ordinary every day people like ourselves. We are the United States. I think the people who we all have voted for collectively is the problem. I rarely see a politician with life in their eyes anymore.

I am also an independent and have been my whole life, but the death penalty needs to be expeditiously done to those who deserve it. Many people on death row don’t, but people who hurt children, serial killers, mass shooters, etc do. We shouldn’t be paying millions in taxpayers money to keep MONSTERS alive in prison. Now if you want to talk about the absolute horror show that is privatized prisons we can. Cool thing is, I can disagree with you, have a conversation with you about it, and if we don’t end up agreeing that’s fine. Let’s find a middle ground. That’s how it should be

There’s also a polite way to try to convince someone of your point. One of these sides will end up in a fight. The other can have a polite discussion about it and leave a healthy debate as friends
