yes, but also, there are only so many hours in the day. I am a safe person to everyone, but I cannot be everyone's best friend. I feel bad that I can't be everything to everyone, but I simply don't have the time to commit as much time to strangers and acquaintances I do those in my inner circle.

I used to live by this philosophy but to be honest i’ve come to learn that you’re going to become like the people you surround yourself and interact with- so i think it’s smart to be discerning and only show your best to those who have similar values as you and those who you see a future with. I also think you have one “pie” of energy/time so you can choose to have several friendships/relationships that will each get a smaller piece of the pie, or you can focus on a handful of relationships that will each get a bigger piece- you can get deeper, more vulnerable, and more real with. There is a such thing as spreading your energy thin and I think it’s cool to choose to gather it for those who you pick and choose for your life and give them the greatest, sharpest version of you. Just my thoughts 🤷🏻♀

We aren’t living authentically if we are gatekeeping parts of ourselves. If our own cups are full, it doesn’t matter if people don’t appreciate the softer parts of us, because we don’t “need” that from them. Because we are enough for ourselves already. This is great awareness.
