I’m 2 months into my first corporate job. Any advice? I feel like I’m making no impact/can’t make any impact yet

Agreed, working really hard in my early career for five years helped me get into rooms no one else could. I learned from people that working hard will only get you so far, aka hustle culture. Focusing on real projects that move the needle is really the key to becoming extremely successful.

This. And consistency. When people trust you and you’re competent, you really have a greater leverage than you think

Telling someone to work harder or be “first one in, last one out” is good advice if you wanna get promoted at your company or in your field. It’s not good advice if you wanna become financially wealthier!

One thing I've learned about success is that it is defined by the individual. Success to one person is not success to another. Some people define success in terms of money, others define it as making the moral decisions. In science, success is more about discovering a truth and/or how that truth can benefit society. Success is different for just about everyone.

It's all connections. Opportunities for revenue come from others dishing them to you.

That 15-20% extra effort held the opportunities to learn the insights that now allow us to work *smarter.*

It gets fun when you’ve worked super hard early and start to afford to be picky about who you *choose* to do business with!

Agreed. In the beginning you have less wisdom to offer and more horse power (due to typically having fewer responsibilities). As you build experience, you shift to experience based progression, which trumps hard work on its own, cause time required to get invaluable experience can hardly be compressed, but workload can, by putting in the hours...

Additionally, at least in corporate world sense, the hard work being seen by higher ups builds rapport, where they trust you and trust you can get the job done regardless of not working “as hard” it’s the by product of that hard work ethic in the beginning

Hard work in the beginning. As you advance in your career, there still is hard work, but more more thinking and communication and working well with others
