I’m Chinese and have been living in the U.S. for 9 years. During the first few years, I definitely felt a kind of “freedom” I had never experienced before—especially freedom of speech, which doesn’t really exist in China. But now, after 9 years, my understanding of freedom has changed. I’ve realized that some freedoms in the U.S. feel unnecessary, and even dangerous at times. And there are many sacrifices citizens have to make to keep those freedoms. It makes me wonder what the point of it really is. I also really miss the feeling of safety and the vibrant nightlife in China. But China isn’t perfect, there are many countries are able to provide freedom also safety. Both China and the US need some improvement but right now if you ask me. I prefer feeling of safety.

The US is build to a large extent on the separation/division of people. Therefore people feel the need to "protect" themselves from those "others". Most Americans to this day do not understand that this country was set up by the rich and for the rich. So the goal was always to divide labor. Jay Gould said it best "I can get one half of my workers to want to kill the other half"

I agree with you. I lived in China for 18 years and never felt physical danger walking around in public at night. The comment section is wild. I guess propaganda works

It’s a more complex issue than something you can observe and experience in a short 3+ years. Most of my family and relatives live in China for their entire life, I was born and raised in China until I was 14 and immigrated with my family to the U.S. I still have lots of relatives in China. I frequently go back to China to visit and have fun. I agree when time is good, it’s a great society to live in, especially if you are doing well in the middle to upper class. During COVID, the government became very authoritarian, I’ve heard countless stories that it was like hell and the citizens can’t do nothing about it. I didn’t experience that in the U.S. in an open state. I’ve also traveled to close state for business during COVID as well, even for a close state, it wasn’t as bad as what they did in China, and that was the entire country. Citizens literally had no options but to obey what the government is shoveling down your throat. So when the time gets tough, you can see the true colors of two different societies.

Also a little more information. The firearms ban happened in the 90s in China. My family was a hunting family. After the ban, everyone just turned in the guns, moved on, and found new hobbies.

That’s because if they break the law in China especially any violent crime they are put in prison for lif or death . It’s the punishment there that keeps the no violent crime.

America is the greatest country in the history of mankind. You can cherry pick what’s best about other countries, but there’s no other country that competes overall on the level of the USA.

It's important to realize China censors news about crimes. This includes mass attacks, accidents, protests involving criminal elements, and even discussions of government corruption or mishandling of incident. If ur in China ur living under propaganda. During the military parade last week Xi Jiping and Putin talked about living till 150 in age by continuously organ transplanting on live TV. I used to think Organ harvesting in China was only rumour or CIA propaganda, but now I think it's real and they kidnap their own citizen

America doesn’t have a gun issue. It’s a cultural, mental health issue. Even if you took all of Americas guns away . Crime and murder would still happen but just not with a gun, it would be with knifes , cars, etc.

The Chinese government killed million of their unarmed citizens to get where it is now. Are you saying that the US should disarm their citizens and have some sort of mass murder clensing as well so we can be like China?? Disarming is public is always the first step to a tyrannical government and millions dying.

People also think the UK has freedom of speech. Well ask Sangita Myska. She got sacked by LBC for condemning Israel. I have friends who went on the Palestine march and got dismissed from their jobs for doing so. The UK and US freedom is a delusion, it's not real freedom, just like their voting systems. You can change the party but not the system itself.
