Speaking as an intimacy coach, herpes is way more common than you think. And it is nothing to be scared of when you actually educate yourself on it. It’s a skin condition, a cold sore is herpes too.

He was transparent and honest about his condition, which he didn't choose by the way! Herpes is such a common virus and if the person rejects you for that reason then they are not your person. The one who truly deserves you will see you for who you are and not define you by a skin condition that EVERYONE can have !!!! 🙌🏼🩷

Herpes is not aids it’s literally just a skin condition there’s definitely an unnecessary stigma attached to it and that’s nobody’s fault just a topic that doesn’t have enough education surrounding it unfortunately. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion thoughts or feelings regarding this but I think if there was more information out there and it was spoken about more in detail people would feel very differently about it. They would also realise how common it actually is.

If you're someone who doesn't have it, you don't want someone that does. That's the reality.

It wouldn’t matter to me for the right person. It’s extremely common and usually very mild (~80% of the population has some form of herpes). It’s been around for millions of years. The stigma has only been around since the early 80s for reasons that have nothing to do with the virus.

If he was the love of my life of course it wouldn’t matter, at least he told her! And how does she know that she won’t contract it future from someone else who wasn’t honest with her? If she won’t be with him just because of that then he deserves much better anyway

I think I would feel that way if I was 20 and didn’t have education about it. Now, in my 30s as long as they know how to manage it. No big.

So brave for her to bring it in , we want everyone to feel safe and know there is zero judgment for how she feels. A topic that should be spoken about more so it doesn’t impact beautiful relationships 💞

I feel before intimacy tell the person not an afterthought, it’s about building trust and educating the person and they can make an informed consent. If it’s after the fact I think it could break trust especially if everything is discussed and this is left out. It’s not the herpes itself it’s not the open discussion

literally go to a doctor to get the facts about it and it would not change my relationship, past physical history should not change your relationship if they hit all your other boxes..

Before I was educated I would’ve been skeptical.. or maybe curious is a better word. Now that I’m educated, no it wouldn’t bother me. Id want to move a bit slower but I think thats a good thing regardless

Definitely not. It’s super common and if you really love the person it wouldn’t be an issue

I would love to share my story with you both because I have been on both sides of this. I dated someone for 10 years that has HSV2 and found out after the relationship ended that I had it too and now I’m dating someone does not have HSV2, and he also didn’t allow herpes be a barrier to being in a relationship with me. I have a lot. I can share about this topic and do so on another social media channel. How can we connect?

Ive been in healthcare for 25 years. HSV2 is just one of 8 versions of herpes viruses most of us have been exposed to, carry, but dont have “disease.” Look up
