homemade banana pudding tres leches cake 🤍 for the cake: 1½ cups all-purpose flour (180g) 1½ tsp baking powder (6g) ½ tsp salt (3g) ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (113g) 1 cup granulated sugar (200g) 4 large eggs (200g) 2 tsp vanilla extract (10ml) ½ cup whole milk (120ml) 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar (add to milk) grease a 9x13 pan. sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. add vanilla. alternate folding in dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry. pour into pan and bake at 350°F for 25–30 min or until a toothpick comes out clean. let cool. for the banana syrup: 2 ripe bananas, mashed ¼ cup brown sugar (50g) ¼ cup water (60ml) cook until thickened, then cool completely. for the tres leches soak: 1 cup evaporated milk (240ml) 1 cup sweetened condensed milk (240ml) 1 cup milk (240ml) 2–3 tbsp banana syrup (30–45ml) mix & pour over the cooled cake. chill at least 2 hrs or overnight for best results. for the topping: 1½ cups heavy whipping cream (240ml) ⅓ cup powdered sugar (15–22g, to taste) ¼ cup homemade banana pudding (or to taste) whip cream with sugar until stiff peaks form. gently fold in pudding & spread over soaked cake. homemade banana pudding: (you’ll use some for the soak + topping) 3 cups whole milk (720ml) 3 large egg yolks (60g) ⅔ cup sugar (135g) ¼ cup cornstarch (30g) pinch of salt (1g) 2 tbsp unsalted butter (28g) 2 tsp vanilla extract (10ml) 2 ripe bananas, mashed smooth (240g) off the heat, whisk together egg yolks, salt, sugar & cornstarch. add ½ cup milk, mix until smooth, then add remaining milk. cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until thick and bubbling. remove from heat, stir in butter & vanilla. press plastic wrap on top and let cool completely. #bananapudding #tresleches #cake #baking #Recipe
