@askcatgpt: If you’re in college: follow your curiosity. Take oddball classes. Join clubs. Try stuff for a month and then quit if you don’t like it. Get internships. Work on passion projects. Find other people who are into the same weird stuff you’re into and make things with them. if you wanna be prepared for the AI future, focus on figuring out how to make yourself a Swiss Army knife, rather than what major you should pick. #ai #society
I would like my doctor/surgeon to have majored in medicine

As a Swiss Army knife I totally agree BUT but you can’t do that without experience. First job they totally look at the major.

it depends what you want to work in. btw, pretty much all ai researchers/engineers have advanced degrees (usually phd) in computer science.

I am a Swiss Army knife. Honestly, a bulldog (but likable) Swiss Army knife. HOW can I get an interview?!? My resume is decent but I can’t get a darn call back. I’m an asset. I know it, and all my previous employers know it, but how can my future employers find out about it?!?

So I feel like I am that. However, it also puts me in the position of being overworked and burnt out regularly. How do you suggest balancing that and keeping employers from taking advantage of you.

I wanted to drive cars. So I learned how. Met ppl, studied psychology. I like games, played and learned social skills etc etc. One path leads to new paths

There are career majors that build generalists : like Architecture (not technology architecture!)… Building Architecture builds a generalist.

Isnt it effective if you have a masters degree and you’re well in using every new toolkit in your niche(eg Designer) and also are creative to wrap all in one to focus on a specific task. I think it’s undertated now!!!

Journalism & Mass Communications is the way to go. You need to learn media law and ethics, as well as the skepticism, research, and critical thinking it requires. It makes you a Swiss Army knife.

Agree! I would say pick a major + a minor in entrepreneurship. Still need formal training for most STEM fields though (I would not trust a vibed surgeon or a vibed bridge). But “how” they teach in school should adapt and encourage use of AI tools
