Anyone who asks why should first explain why they think others do any extreme sport. What’s the point of Formula 1, of downhill racing, or any other boundary-pushing challenge? The answer is simple: adrenaline, reaching for the almost impossible, testing our own limits. Climbing Everest is one of the greatest human achievements, the result of unbelievable effort and perseverance. Nobody has the right to judge. These people prepare, they know exactly what they’re taking on, and they accept the risk. If they accept it, then who are you to question it?🫶🏻

As an experienced high altitude mountaineer, you need to go back down. A summit push in your state WILL be catastrophic… those in your group will have to witness potentially leaving a man behind. That will stay with them for the rest of their lives AND YOUR FAMILY! The summit will always be there in your life time. This expedition is not your victory. You’ve got to be realistic in these situations… LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.
