Yes! Meanwhile, 35% of high school seniors in the US are proficient at reading and 22% are proficient at math. In the long term, it's becoming less and less likely that the US trainees will be even able to comprehend what the H1B Visa holder is saying, much less to be the one doing the training 😞

At my hospital we literally could not find a person qualified to do the job. We had to pay $150k/year above market rate and bring someone in from overseas to fill the position.

As someone who works in tech, this couldn’t be further from the truth (in my industry). The jobs obtained by H1-B employees are jobs that do not require a specialization whatsoever. In tech there is a huge fraternity culture that exists even amongst nationals. People will do anything to hire their own, even at the greater expense of the organization.

I've been in tech for 27 years and I have to admit it is very difficult to see the H1B visa workers here when so many Americans in tech are laid off. I LOVE my Indian coworkers, but it's hard. And when they do end up staying, they only hire their Indian friends. And, I'm a liberal and I know this goes against my own beliefs even, but it's hard. I want to see Americans working and educated first. The new law won't change anything though either. Now I'm afraid they'll move the jobs offshore. I feel like my industry is cooked.

very true in Healthcare. we dont have enough health care providers, that are staying in the field, or experienced. so they bring in from the Philippines and other countries.

she's absolutely correct. software engineering has to use these visa holders a lot. you are legally required to pay them fair market plus it costs to sponsor the visa. I've paid an extra $15k - $38k

There’s a bunch of H1-B visas that many recent international grads are going for and they don’t have any special skills. Also, within tech it’s pretty common to see H1-B managers hiring H1-B employees
