Hamstrings: the forgotten muscle for better golf? The hamstrings often get overlooked when it comes to training for golf performance. However, they play a massive role. Specifically, they pay a big part in the forceful hip extension that occurs during the downswing (trail leg) and for overall stabilisation of the pelvis and knee through follow through. Importantly, the hamstrings are a bi-articular muscle, meaning they cross two joints (hip & knee). IMO, the seated leg curl is the 🐐 of hamstring training, as it trains the lengthened position, biases the biceps femoris (the short head of which doesn't cross the hip joint) and offers high stability - a recipe for success. Outside of that, hinge patterns are just amazing for posterior chain development - keep minimal knee flexion to ensure hamstrings have the mechanical bias. Outside of these two, you have the various bridging options, Nordics etc., however for a time-sparse golfer, having regular, progressive exposure to the two covered in the video will be A1 for hamstring development. #hamstrings #hamstringworkout #golfworkout #golffitness #golfperformance #strengthandconditioning
