Syndactyly, otherwise known as “webbing” of fingers and toes is a common congenital condition. This patient was born with fusion of the 2nd and 3rd toes of both feet. Watch the following Reel 🎥 where I catalogue her progress before, immediately post-op and 6 months following syndactyly reconstruction! Surgery is typically recommended between the 6-9 months of age, prior to ambulation. At this age, the harvested skin grafts are very small and heal much quicker than larger grafts in older patients. We stress the importance of proper postoperative care including dressing changes 🩹 after cast removal and taping for one year postop to prevent creeping of the webspaces. I harvest the skin graft from the medial ankle. This skin is an excellent color match and the scar ends up nicely hidden and barely discernible. 👌🏼 These images are the property of Dr. Rachel A.
