I grew up at 19N so the seasonal fluctuations in the length of the day were small and gentle. When I moved from Bombay to Madison WI for grad school, the change was alarming. That first winter in the upper latitudes was a nightmare. Perhaps more striking was how low in the sky the noon sun was in the depth of winter or how far south of due east/west the sun rose/set in the horizon. I don’t think most people who haven’t moved much are conscious of these changes.
