As THE avoidant, we are NOT always aware of the work we need to do, we feel different but yet we’re highly functioning in so many ways of our lives, so we thinks it’s normal. It wasn’t until 3 years ago that I felt a deep conviction from God to see a therapist again (saw many in the past and nothing changed), and it still took me a few times before I found the right one. Therapy helped, but God is the one who changed me.

Preach. I had the realization yesterday that I was idolizing my relationship over Christ. Joy and peace were temporary and I was constantly fighting against my husband to get us "back to Eden". The truth is though that God is the one who gives all of those things. I realize that I can pick apart my husband over and over and it's only to avoid accountability for myself regardless of if the sin I point out is true or not. I'm living in sin in my marriage because I was first living in sin in my relationship with God. Thank God for his mercies. I still don't understand how He can love us so much 😭

When I dealt with an avoidant earlier this year it broke me- God showed me that the pain I felt is what he deals with often. Especially with me. And I cried in a ball that night asking for forgiveness

I just learned I’m Fearful Avoidant and YES IM WITH THIS WITH CHRIST! 💯 Working on it. My childhood groomed me this way BUT that’s not an excuse now that I’m aware. Hard work.

I personally have had a closer relationship with God while being in love with said “avoidants”. I pray more, praise more, feel deeper, connect more, heart vulnerable and open not hardened. I love our moments of safety and closeness…they do come but most times are fleeting. When we are both closer to God we are closer to each other. It’s a dance and we have most certainly stepped on each others toes, but the song isn’t over and God is still determining our steps.

I thought this myself earlier today. I chase after him who’s avoidant and yet I am avoidant to God. I ask why doesn’t this man want me why does he chose to walk away from someone who loves him so much he knows how much I love him and he chooses to not put in the work. As I do to God. I know his love for me but I avoid putting in the effort with him same as the avoidant man does to me.
