Don’t adjust your carrier in the front. Once you place those tubes adapters they stay still.

This guy looks pretty tall and lengthy, so I’m guessing that the carrier that only covers his chest would probably cover some of my abdomen as well

I think what the comment meant was it only protects the chest but no abdominal coverage, you’d need a larger vest which is much heavier but covered the abdomen
