I had a meniscus tear a few years ago and I constantly felt so guilty for sitting in priority seats but was the only place I could sit because of the brace I had to wear.

I feel like this goes both ways. They can’t assume she’s handicapped and she shouldn’t assume they’re not handicapped if they’re sitting there. Asking was the best option.

Omg do people not understand what it means to be handicapped? Just because you “look” fine, doesn’t mean you are. I’m 19 on cancer meds and physical therapy just to stand. I’m not crippled but my mobility is limited.

People saying she’s not handicapped your probably thinking that cause she’s walking. I have very weak knees that dislocate often if I was to stand up and the bus turns my knee could possibly pop out and the pain is awful the bus would have to stop to make sure I’m okay and you’d all be late to where ever you’re going

when i got hip surgery and actually had to use the big stall and handicap parking, it felt like an act of service to make normal people using them feel bad 😅

ignore the rude comments. you could be using crutches or even crawling on your hand and knees and they'd still say you arent disabled. use the accommodations, they're made for you too. I hope the surgery goes well :)

you can be handicap from injuries for amounts of time my dad had two torn miniscuses after surgery he struggled to walk and they offered a handicap parking pass for 3 months. He didn't take it but still you can be considered handicap for limited time

I remember in Grand Canyon a drive saw that I was sitting in handicap and my husband wasn’t, he stopped the bus and asked me to move, my husband set him straight and I am handicap and you can not assume

I have a genuine question ! Where you live don’t you need a paper saying your handicap? In Portugal I have it since every oncology patient has it…but does injuries also include?

I hate when people sit in the handicapped spot and don’t need it. Especially when there’s free seats. I’ve had someone argue with me cause I “don’t look handicapped”. 😭 (They said themselves they weren’t handicapped)

I couldn’t walk for 6 months and had to use a wheelchair. We used a car everywhere. I still struggle to walk and limp all the time. At the end of the day, I can still stand and walk with my two feet and whoever was there first gets the seat. I’m not gonna ask someone to give up their seat bc first come first serve.
