I need to ask why British people do not work in construction? In central London my husband (Romanian) he is working in the big buildings as a flooring contractor for offices, and 1% they are British man’s working there. They said is to hard to work, the hours they are long is to hard for them. My husband is working 7 days a week, and sometimes depending of the job he is working from 8 to 21. You think your British people will work like that??

So... Someone please tell me how it works... Both me and my husband came to the UK 10+ years ago, we haven't applied for citizenship but we have indefinite leave to remain, we're both working (NHS / Residential). Our son is 5 years old and he has been granted British citizenship at birth. Are we gonna get deported back to our home country and he gets so stay here or what? I don't get how this works or will work 😳😭...

This policy is too radical to impose as a one size fits all . This could potentially divide British families where one spouse is British and one spouse has ILR and has lived worked and paid into the uk tax system for 20/30 +years. Most families don’t have a spare £2k per person for citizenship fees. I don’t see how they can impose it legally retrospectively as people who moved here legally and are working hard have paid into the tax and pension system. Their status was indefinite by definition when granted.

Just think to mixed family where one parent is foreigner and one British, kids are British. What will happen with their kids?Most of those families will leave the country for their families.

So to clarify, I have been here for 20 years, never claimed benefits and rarely use nhs , pay tax , I am on indefinite leave to remain , now I will have to reapply every 5 years …. When my husband is British and my kids too…. Just let me go then. Only stayed bc I got married . But my kids are going too🤷♀
