To us the Gas we refer to the ewes as Ayigbe because of the messengers, based on their reports on the assignment.. the report was Ayi S3 m3 gb3… Ayi said no… and now corrupted as Ayigbe.. So that’s the gas in Togo, so we generalised it and called the ewes(Togolese) Ayigbe after they joined the Gold Coast..

When I was in Kumasi,I never heard ewes were called ayigbe,they used to call ewes anwana meaning Anlo until Edem started using that name,so somehow I will put much blame on edem for the popularisation of that name
