“Is he sleeping better yet?” It’s probably the question I’m asked the most. And most of the time I smile and say something like, “We’re getting there.” Because it’s easier than explaining what the nights really look like. The multiple wake ups. The moments where I’m so tired I forget what time it is. The way I climb back into bed knowing it might only be for another hour. The truth is, some nights are still really hard. Not because I don’t love this stage. I do. I love watching Riley learn new things every day. I love his giggles. I love seeing his little personality shine through. But loving motherhood and finding it hard can exist at the same time. One thing that’s helped me more than I expected is opening the map during those long nights. Those little yellow dots aren’t just dots. They’re real mums. Some are feeding their babies. Some are rocking them back to sleep. Some are sitting in a dark nursery wondering when morning will come. Every dot is someone doing exactly what I’m doing. That reminder doesn’t make the wake ups disappear. But it reminds me that I’m not failing. I’m just one of thousands of mums loving their babies through another sleepless night. If you’re answering that same question with a smile today, I hope you know you’re not alone. There are mums all over the world who understand exactly what your nights look like. And somehow, that makes carrying them feel a little lighter. 💛 #newmom #momlife #postpartum #motherhood #momcommunity
