@emilykraft4: Replying to @jello I agree, and also- twisted rib is not the only "fix." I see lots of new knitters lament that their 1x1 rib looks "messy" and the comments will all say to do twisted rib. Twisted rib is an option, but it doesn't act the same as regular ribbing. #knitting #knittok #fyp #knittingtiktok #knit
My 2x2 looks great. My 1x1 is awful looking. I just tried knitting it combined. Sooooooo much nicer looking. Would definitely recommend people give that a try

How do you know how many stitches to decrease?

Sofiaknitsthings has made a tutorial on how to turn your 1x1 rub inside out using short rows. I haven’t tried it myself but it does look neater

I don’t like the look of twisted rib, but if I don’t need stretchiness, I will do half twisted rib, where the ws stitches are twisted and the regular knit stitches show on the right side

I've just knit a spancervest, and I found out that my tension is completely different when knitting in the round then knitting back and forth. I think my pearls are to loose. How do I fix this? Because I'm scared to try another project

Also, I personally just don't like doing a bunch of ptbl, so I'm never going to choose twisted rib if the pattern doesn't call for it

Can you recommend a nice and easy cast off for a 2x2 rib? I can handle Kitchener stitch for necks or puffs but I am knitting top down, with a triple yarn and I don’t think I can manage to do it nicely for the sweater’s waist

Ever since I started knitting my ribbing inside out I haven't had any trouble with it (when knitting in the round at least). It looks so good with so little effort.

I have some fat pearl stitches in my ribbing and it does look messy even with a smaller needle size, after blocking. But doing combination knitting does look neater for me. 1st row knit normal then pearl but wrap counterclockwise. Then 2nd row and after I can’t remember lol but possibly k tbl and pearl counterclockwise.

I just default to twisting my knits 😂

I don't like how often the ribbing is much flimsier than the body. Like, you're there to give stability, to tie the room together, but your on the balcony puking. I do a row of purl at the end and fold over. It doesn't always work though.
