@exposrapp: ⚠️our scans are recorded in Europe⚠️ Most people don’t realize this, but canned mushrooms and tomato sauces can legally contain maggots and insect eggs — and still make it to store shelves. According to the FDA, canned mushrooms are only considered a violation if they average 20 or more maggots of any size per 100 grams (or 5 maggots 2mm or larger). For tomato products, the FDA allows up to 10 fruit fly eggs per 500 grams of canned tomatoes, or 30 eggs per 100 grams of tomato paste and sauce. In other words, a little contamination is accepted as “normal” in mass food production — even when it sounds anything but appetizing.
