LatinX is bullshit but I fully support Latine as a gender neutral alternative, because not only is it much easier to pronounce but it also feels a lot more natural. Still though, it’s not nearly the biggest problem that Latinos have to fix or work on💀

Personally I don’t mind using it if that’s what you prefer but I also dislike being referred to as Latinx because from my experience it’s usually someone outside of our culture referring to me as that which just feels like white washing. I do think that people that make a fuss about it and don’t use it for the ones that prefer it usually have internalized homophobia.

Latinx is a term made by Mexican AMERICANS. Actual Mexican people in Mexico did not invent it and do not use it. That’s the issue. It’s not about being anti inclusivity at alllllllllll. We can protect the dolls and dislike American influence on Mexican culture and language at the same time

The hatred the words is weird. Especially LatinX. first time I saw it it was explained to me that it was used by feminists in South America on posters as a visual symbol not necessarily something to be said out loud. It was couple years later I heared the invented by anglos origin for the word. Regardless of the actual origin the outrage seems excessive

For me, and I honestly think I speak for many, I don’t mind if you use Latinx/latine personally, but I do get annoyed when organizations/news/etc use it and try and make it the standard for how to discuss all people. And I think, by and large, most Latinos have rejected those terms?
