@jennburn: Chemotherapy rash is a common but frustrating side effect that can happen when cancer treatments affect your skin’s sensitive cells. For many people, like me, it often appears on delicate areas such as the neck. A chemo rash can turn the skin bright red, creating an almost sunburn-like look. Along with the redness, the skin may feel itchy, raw, and even 🔥burn with pain, making it uncomfortable to wear certain clothing or even move my head easily. This reaction happens because chemotherapy drugs don’t just target cancer cells—they can also affect healthy, fast-growing cells, including those in your skin. The neck is particularly vulnerable since the skin there is thin and frequently exposed. Heat, friction from collars, or even mild irritants like certain soaps or lotions can make the rash worse.🧴 #chemoqueen #chemotherapy #chemotherapysideeffects #rash #cancersucks

I wonder if the ointments that are used after radiation would help. I know you have to be careful with taking different things and using certain topicals while going through chemo.

The only time I had a rash appear was a reaction to carboplatin. Thankfully it was my 11th of 12 and it wasn’t a severe reaction.

I get that same redness the day after I have chemo. We assume the steroids are the cause. It only lasts 12 to 24 hrs.
