The way I do all of these at the same time 😭 I brush in circles, at a 45° angle, and even use the gum recession technique even though I don’t even have gum recession. Am I gonna be okay 💀

Not a single dentist or hygienist has ever shown me any techniques. Just like I only just recently learned you shouldn’t rinse after you brush at night. I’m 33 and just now learned that this last year from tiktok.

Hygienists in my youth: Stay off your gums…your brushing them too hard. My perio now: You have bone loss because you haven’t brushed your gums. 🙄

So, there’s a total lack of teaching out there, I think. Unless it’s just me? But I’m 30, and have not once as an adult been told to not be brushing in circles anymore lol

Literally just learned the proper way to brush. My new hygienist taught me how to floss properly. Wild but so appreciated. Thanks for the proper cleaning in my 2nd half of life 🫣

I had a perio patient my 3rd day working and noticed he didn’t make any improvement for the last 3 visits so I asked about his brushing and said he was never shown how to properly brush and I sat with him and showed him the Bass technique and he was so grateful 🥺 taking the time to do something as simple as this truly makes a difference!

The kids at my office have all been more than able to do the bass technique, some even say "this is so easy"!! I was impressed cause dental hygiene school always thought me otherwise

I was taught how to floss at dentist (my cavities were from not flossing) but not brushing. I know now, focus on gum line, and extra care for teeth thet were worked on.

I’m now a pediatric hygienist and I only teach them the bass technique. I have never loved the fones technique. Now I’m questioning if I should be teaching them circles but at what age do we change the technique on them. I think parents should be helping until they have the dexterity to do it properly anyway.
