There was a show back in the 90s on PBS that was called Gullah Gullah Island. It had a lot of black history. It was a kid show had a big green frog. I remember that a lot of nice songs but that’s when I first learned about the Gullah people

I learned this about Sierra Leone and the krio language last year when a friend and I started sharing information with each other about Africa's influence in the diaspora. also years ago I saw a video from Sierra Leone she I could understand their pidgin I could also understand certain places in Nigeria sound just like our dialect in svg

The names you can look up: Amelia Dawley, Lorenzo Dow Turner, Mary Moran, Joseph Opala. I promise you’ll learn something new ❤️I didn’t even get to the part where this all connects to a slave ship but maybe I’ll do that in my next video 🙏🏿

This is so heartbreaking but beautiful. Separated by violence and centuries, they’re still able to have a connection to the family their ancestors were torn away from. I hope that the tradition has carried on for future generations. So powerful.
