UPDATE: changed the valve fine, I’m having someone come put a compression tank on and check out if my water heater need flushed or any other maintenance. Thank you to the tips I was given to those kind enough to give them. and to those who think $350 is chump change GOOD FOR YOU! :)

I love people say expansion tank pressure go high. You do know the T in T&P stands for temperature. She said she tried to drain it but not much came out. That tells me the “thermometer” on the probe of the gas control valve was covered in sediment. Which means the gas valve is constantly calling for flame sending the temp over 210F causing the valve to trip. Flush the tank. If the tank is over 8yrs old it’s not a good idea to flush the tank. Better off replacing it. But you c

T&P valves typically leak due to high water pressure or thermal expansion. I would recommend having a licensed Plumber Inspect the Water system to confirm the issue.

Next time have the new t&p ready and once you unscrew the old one throw the new one in and tighten it up. Then turn the water on and open the drain valve to use the city pressure to blast the scale build up out. After that technically you’re supposed to use cpvc for the drain line but pvc will work but it’s not code.

Check the pressure to the house to make sure you don't have too much pressure. That could be the reason why it went bad. If you have too much pressure, you can adjust your PRV or you may need a new one. also, make sure you have an expansion tank on your water heater and its good. also, seeing how it would not drain properly says it needs to be flushed properly.You should flush your water heater at least once a year to help reduce buildup.

You need a pressure reducing valve and an expansion tank. That T&P kicks due to pressure or heat more than likely pressure. ( 210 degrees or 150 psi)

this have given me the most anxiety than any video ive seen on tiktok so far lol. takes 5 minutes to change a T&P valve and usually something else caused it to leak in the first place. PS- you need pressure to get those hoses to expand. gravity won't do it lol
