Below the statues sits a plaque that reads “In Honor of Friendship Month.” “We celebrate the long-lasting bond between President Donald J. Trump and his ‘closest friend,’ Jeffrey Epstein.” A representative from the Secret Handshake, the group reportedly responsible for the statues, told HuffPost that the figures “speak for themselves.” “Since this is Friendship Month, we wanted to celebrate what is presumably, at least publicly, Donald Trump’s only true friend,” the group’s leader said. The statue is across the street from the US Capitol building, facing the National Mall lawns that lead to the Washington Monument and is expected to remain there until the end of the week.
