So if you are a coach and have a team. Would you send out a survey or individual talks with each athlete to find out what zone they like? Because if the room is split 50/50, what does that pregame speech look like?

i love hearing the actual reason behind this. it makes so much sense why i played so much better for some coaches who brought a different vibe to games

My son hates playing for coaches that are too chill. He needs the hype speech

For some reason I thrive when I’m anxious and stressed out so I need hype and I need people yelling at me (good or bad)

Here's the thing though. Ask the majority of the greatest players in all sports and tell me which the majority of them prefer. I feel like the athletes which are the best of all-time get super amped up and are able to harness that amped energy to perform at their max effort level. The ones that prefer calmness and don't "let themselves get too anxious" don't perform at their max potential and have a lower ceiling of improvement so they never actually reach their true potential. You have to stress yourself and handle the stress to truly achieve greatness. IMO 🤷

This is me too! I’m all for a compliment after if I do well but please don’t hype me up because then I will fail. Preemptive “you’ve got this” cheers literally feel like lies to me (because you in fact do not know if I’ve got this) and pull me out of the zone or make me blush and feel anxious 😅

I coach junior high softball, and after we would have a really good inning, I would tell them to stay level. Don’t let yourself get too high emotionally, but also don’t relax and get lazy, because the mistakes will more than likely occur in the extremes
