Pasteurella multocida is the most common bacteria involved. 💊 Antibiotic prophylaxis for cat bites typically is Augmentin (or Unasyn if IV required). 🚨 Infections after a catbite can happen quite quickly, sometimes less than six hours. Flexor tenosynovitis in the fingers/hand is one that I often see, and this often requires urgent surgical debridement. 🐱 To all of the cat owners, stay safe out there! My cat bit my finger. It was doubled in size in less than 12 hours. I couldn’t sleep that night I was in so much pain. Urgent care the next day for antibiotics. It was already getting a red line. Cat bites = urgent care immediately. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Pay $200 lol and see the Dr.
