I loved her answer - It’s like having a grandmother, father, brother, best friend, or mentor who suddenly becomes racist. You grew up loving them, holding onto the memories of who they were and the experiences you shared. But these new views create distance between who they are now and who they were to you. You can still love them and cherish the past, while staying open to the possibility that they might change or choosing instead to remember them in the best light.
