Paint and some furniture pieces and lots of decor. You’ll be fine and soon it will be just your space. Buy some fresh flowers every couple of weeks, they always make me feel better.
paint + new rug + new cushions on the couch = whole new space on an affordable budget

I owned my current apartment with my ex fiancé and when we split I bought his share of it and it took a while to make it feel like my own again but I did it!!!! A new rug, BED… specifically mattress !!! , bedding, cushions, some new things on the fridge and it’ll feel like he was never even there 😆❤

I highly recommend consulting with a lawyer to discuss your options in order to protect your property, including the possibility of placing a caveat on the property. For example, if your parents contributed towards the property, they could place a caveat, ensuring they are repaid for what they contributed. This could potentially prevent him from making a claim on the property. The caveat would be paid off from the sale profits i.e. proceeds would go to your parents and he has no rights over it, and any remaining proceeds after that could be divided if he tries to make a claim that would make his share much smaller than what he might otherwise claim. This is worst case scenario and ideally, he would respect that the property was yours before he entered the picture and walk away. A decent person would understand that. ✌

Agree on the furniture changes! Donate/ sell, bid items goodbye and welcome the new with good intentions. Also sage/ work with someone who can help bring in positive energy back into the house and get rid of the old, negative energy from your home. You’re loved and you have a whole community behind you, so what you can to protect yourself and your light 🤍
