I had panic attacks as a child if my parents weren't home when they were supposed to be and I was alone thinking they were raptured and I was left behind

Rapture trauma is so real. I was always so scared to be alone.

As a religious parent….I never discussed the Rapture with my kids…I answered questions after watching movies as minimal as possible. I just tried to teach them to be like Jesus and be good people.

I think, it depends what kind of Catholic you are. As I am roman catholic, and never heard of a rapture before Tiktok.

I do not believe in the rapture. But I am 100% a bible believing Jesus-loving Christian. not all people claiming to be Christians believe the same thing but I can tell you this. God comes 1st. before my husband and before my Kids and I love them all very deeply, but it is because of my Love for christ that I am able to love them so unconditionally.

I believe in the rapture and it will come one day, but we will never know the day or the time, like people are trying to figure out. And yes, my husband and I do take our children to church because that’s biblical and that is what we believe in. I’m sorry you feel this way and I’m sorry for any hurt that you experienced as a child. I understand we all have our own opinions and that’s just fine.

I remember not understanding why my mom was so excited and how it was so unfair because she got to live most of her life and she was so happy with mine ending so soon. I had those thoughts when I was probably 8 years old. I hate rapture talk, its ridiculous.

I literally have just been making light of this whole situation. Thank you so much for showing me and opening my eyes with how incredibly harmful this is for the children. I really didn’t even think of that.

A lot of people don’t realize the “rapture” is not a term in the bible. Culturally the first century Christians didn’t believe in the rapture. It was a term used by Darby in the 1500s. Now, first century would pray “your kingdom come ON EARTH as it is in Heaven.” Jesus also said carry your cross and follow him. If Jesus suffered, why would his followers also not. Jesus never promised a life with no trails or tribulation. And that verse “to be with him in the air”…. It’s Revelation, apocalyptic literature. You have to read it as such. Not everything in the bible is literal, there are hidden messages behind them. Long story short, no man knows the day or the hour. ONLY the Father in Heaven. So just be ready. Have a heart like Jesus. READ THE RED LETTERS!! God bless!

I believe in the rapture but I would never push that trauma on my children like it was pushed on me.

I was told my whole childhood that the tribulation/rapture would happen "soon". I never figured out how to plan for/dream for my future. I thought I didn't have one. finally, at intensive mental health treatment at the age of 38, I figured out I could still dream. I started pursuing acting for the first time in my life. I'm 42 now and FINALLY feel like I have a future. (and now the world is falling apart ugh)

As a psychology student, I understand people falling into blind faith and trusting something so much to the point of harm. But as a person, HOW CAN PEOPLE ACTUALLY FALL FOR IT?!?! Like I fully cannot wrap my autistic brain around how people can just go for something without worrying about consequences?? Like huh?

Pentecostal here. We were showed a movie about the rapture when I was maybe 5 (1978 ish) and it's still one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life.

When I was a little girl growing up in a Pentecostal church in Colorado, they talked about the rapture all the time. I was so afraid of it happening when I was a little kid, that I used to ask God when I was going to bed if he would wait until I grew up, got married, and had two kids. I just asked him to give me a little more time on earth. And I felt guilty for asking that. Can you imagine a kid asking to stay alive until they’re an adult?

We are NOT religious in my home, but I do have a 13 year old with Asperger's, who was worried that I had it wrong when I said everything was going to be all right, because of what he saw trending. THAT'S how powerful the internet is.

my parents took us to see the Left Behind movie in theaters when I was 8 and it damaged me so bad, add in my Dad's casual conversation about who he thinks is the "antichrist" and when he thinks the rapture is gonna happen, I had such a hard time planning for my future because what's the point if the rapture is gonna happen and day
