@adventures_in_retirement: While we were about to start a sightseeing tour in Ketchikan, Alaska, the guide asked if anyone had questions before we began. A lady standing next to me raises her hand and asks: “So…what’s our elevation right now?” 🤔 We are literally standing on the pier right next to the cruise ship, staring at the ocean! 🤦🏻‍♂️ The tour guide barely missed a beat and basically said, Somewhere between 0 feet and needing a snorkel. 🤿💦😂 Sea level has officially entered the chat! We were on a wildlife tour in Icy Straight and saw a bald eagle. One woman couldn't understand why they were called "bald" because "didn't bald mean no hair?" She said they weren't bald because they had feathers. Our guide handled it graciously.

We used to get that a bunch in Anchorage. People think that because mountains are in the view they must be at a high elevation.

When we were in Alaska in May, our tour guide said something about no snow in the streets but it's still getting dumped on top of the mountains and one of the ladies in our group asked "how do they get it up there?" I wish I could remember the exact conversation because that lady actually thought they were removing the snow from the streets and putting it on top of the mountains somehow 🙄
