@nzstuff: Police have uncovered more than 120 cannabis grow houses across Auckland, seizing over 10 tonnes of cannabis with an estimated street value of $58 million. The large-scale effort, which ran from late July through August, involved searches of 128 properties in suburban and rural areas, including Pōkeno, Pakuranga, Henderson and Torbay. Police made 30 arrests, mostly of Vietnamese nationals, many of whom now face deportation. Police have been tracking a rise in cannabis grow operations linked to Vietnamese criminal networks. In 2024, they located 97 grow houses in Auckland. In the first six months of 2025, they already found 90. Police say they are urging landlords to take more responsibility, suggesting that a lack of tenant vetting maybe enabling the use of rentals for grow operations. #nz #nznews #nzpolice #nzstuff
